Welcome
The Ilkeston & District Long Alley Skittles League consists of two divisions of eight teams, who meet on Sundays to compete against each other at Long Alley Skittles. The district is made up of teams from Ilkeston, Cotmanhay, Heanor, Eastwood, Newthorpe, Newthorpe Common, Stapleford and Westwood.
Teams are made up of five players per team who take in turn to throw three ball down an alley with the intention of striking the front pin. There are nine skittles or pins and scoring begins when the front pin is knocked down. Players score one point for each pin they knock down. The winning team is the team with the highest overall total after each player has thrown a total of nine balls over three legs.
The sport is open to players of all ages and signing up to a team is simple, just go along to any of the listed venues and ask to be involved. New teams are always welcome to join the league and signing up takes place twice a year. New teams can sign up by contacting the league via the contact tab above.
Throughout the year teams have the opportunity to compete in a knockout cup, pairs cup and a singles competition. Long alley Skittles is a great way to socialise, meet new people and to be part of a community sport rich in history, so why not go along to your local and ask about Long Alley Skittles.
